Miles Platts, a leader in precision technical mouldings of coil bobbins and electro-technical parts, is pleased to announce a significant leadership transition. As of May 2025, Simon Shenton has been appointed Managing Director, with David Platts, long-serving Managing Director, moving into a new role as CEO and Strategic Advisor.

This planned leadership transition represents the next phase in Miles Platts’ long-term growth strategy, reinforcing its commitment to continued innovation, international expansion and excellence in engineering, and it comes at a time when Miles Platts is accelerating its focus on global expansion, engineering innovation, and customer-focused development. With a solid foundation, state-of-the-art facilities in the UK, and a loyal customer base across Europe, North America, and Asia, the business is poised to scale new heights under Simon’s direction.

A New Chapter with Simon Shenton at the Helm

Simon joins Miles Platts at a pivotal time, bringing with him an extensive background in manufacturing and global sales leadership. Over the next three years, he will focus on building a robust strategy to help deliver an ambitious growth plan for the business. His wealth of experience and strategic vision are expected to unlock new opportunities and further elevate the company’s standing within the precision plastics sector.

Simon has held various senior positions within the packaging, paper, and plastics industries, and was most recently Managing Director of C&T Matrix, where he successfully quadrupled the size of the business through international growth and product diversification.

His international credentials are equally impressive. Fluent in Italian, Spanish, and French, Simon has lived and worked in Italy for five years and has built global distribution networks across the United States, China, India, and Europe.

Simon heads the existing, highly experienced team of senior management comprising Brian Hatley- Technical Sales, Mark Smith- Production and Martyn Marriott- Finance.

Brian has headed the technical sales function for 23 years at Miles Platts and works globally with customers on projects.  From an electronics and transformer manufacturing background he can understand customer’s needs for electro-technical plastic components and coil-winding.

Mark is responsible for the entire production side of Miles Platts from design to satisfying customer orders.  From an electronics and machinery manufacturing background, Mark joined Miles Platts in 2013 and has been instrumental in successfully bringing customer projects to life.

Martyn has worked in the finance department at Miles Platts for 29 years keeping our finances in order.  In addition to acting as the Company Secretary, Martyn ensures smooth running of the company from customer accounts through to management accounts.

David Platts Transitions to (New) Role…

After 25 years as the Managing Director, I have now moved into my new role as CEO and I am excited to have someone of Simon’s calibre and experience to drive the Company on as the new MD, and I’m very confident that he will lead our loyal and highly skilled team to achieve the ambitious targets we have set over the coming years.
