Mark Smith

Mark joined Miles Platts in 2013; with over 20 years of experience within the manufacturing and engineering industry, he is responsible for operations within the business and is a member of the senior management team. He manages several teams that strive for zero defects and 100% on-time delivery of all products and services that we provide.

Prior to Miles Platts, Mark sat on the Board of Ridgeway Machines who design and manufacture large scale coil and transformer winding machines for the power generation industry and pipeline production lines in the oil and gas industry.

Mark’s background originates in electronics, however, his focus now is on production optimization and change management. His remit includes forecasting and delivery performance; managing day-to-day activities to achieve targets and the development and implementation of the long-term operations strategy to create sustainable safety, quality, delivery and cost improvements which benefit stakeholders and customers. He is the key player in driving the Operational Excellence and Strategic Planning process to define improvement priorities which have the greatest impact on customers within the broader business strategy.
