Sam Platts

Sam joined Miles Platts in 2012 and was promoted to Tool Room Supervisor in 2013. He has over 15 years of experience in injection mould tool manufacturing. Prior to Miles Platts, he spent 4 years in the Royal Air Force working on the maintenance of weapon systems and tornados.

Sam’s remit includes managing tooling projects, overseeing the planning and manufacturing of all insert and full mould tools and regular preventative maintenance on all in-house and customer moulding tools and machinery. He operates VISI CAD CAM and Edgecam software alongside a number of mould tool manufacturing machines; some of which include the Sodick AG40 spark eroder, Sodick AG600 wire eroder and various CNC and manual machines.

His extensive knowledge of tool design supports his ability to provide and discuss complex tooling solutions with our customers. Sam is responsible for analysing any technical issues and the ongoing training and support of the tool makers within his team.
