Multi-chamber

At Miles Platts, we have spent the last 50 years building relationships with key manufacturers across the globe which has allowed us to develop our skills to best meet the needs of our customers. This has enabled us to expand or range into moulded bobbins and isolation components with multi-chamber designs to meet high voltage creepage and clearance requirements.

The design and manufacturing of multi-chamber components comes with its challenges and complications such as the delicate multiple thin-walled flanges and the use of glass filled polymers with flame retardant additives. Because our multi-chamber bobbins and isolation components require a high number of turns and small gauge wire, the dimensional stability of the flanges is critical during the winding process. Miles Platts is accustomed to working with such limitations. To mitigate the distortion that inevitably comes with glass-filled materials, we have developed component design methods and incorporated compensation within their tool designs.

Additionally, the team here at Miles Platts consistently work with zero draft to maximize winding space and ensure a close fit with lamination stacks and ferrite cores.
